Conference Reports: Volunteers Making the News

The diversity and density of information is very high in social and humanitarian events. Limited budgets often restrict access to a fortunate few. Conference Reports is a cross-sector partnership that directly involves volunteers in carrying results around the world. Projects have been realized in Europe and Africa for events as large as the World AIDS Conference (13,000 participants).

Volunteers Making the NewsVolunteer reporters are recruited and trained in partnership with International Conference Volunteers (ICVolunteers) to create, review and post summaries of sessions, articles and interviews online using a specially designed online reporting system.

The reports may be subsequently combined with additional materials as desired to create and print a final CD-ROM Report for the event.

Through a carefully designed information flow, high quality and consistent results are obtained, making best use efficient use of limited resources.

...Beyond blogging

Increasingly, Conference Reports reporters and editors have professional journalism backgrounds, or are in training to be journalists. Our goal is to generate final stories that are clear, compelling, and most, important, relevant.
